Repairing vehicles while in combat is awesome

18 posts in this topic

Now that it takes time to repair vehicles, can we make it so players can repair their vehicles while in combat?

Getting a wheel shot out on your Hunter, piling out of the vehicle and defending your teammate trying to repair it is a fantastic combat scenario.  As things stand, as soon as a vehicle is damaged, it's effectively a wreck until the firefight is over.  It's unnecessarily limiting.

overriding the ExileClient_action_repairVehicle_condition.sqf

and then removing this condition

    if (ExileClientPlayerIsInCombat) then
    {
        throw "You are in combat!";
    };

should, in theory, work.

I saw this but this file just seems to cover the dialogue options.  Nowhere did I see the code for actually repairing the vehicle.  I'll have to test it.  Thanks. :)

You might be right, I'll dig in the files a bit later today to see what's what.

+ for this.

Think the time is okay for beeing in fight, but when not in fight it is a really long time when your wheel is for example just defect... if you know push slight against your mouse, it will abort <.<

Might be a easy fix for the Exile devs.

Been wondering why this system is in place.

Hi,

i wonder if throw means "print and exit" - then overwriting would work.
If its only a "print" then this is the wrong position to change something.

Intentional - Increased the risk of losing things, in this case a vehicle! It's now your decision if you defend your car or just leave it there...

You already have that option; it's why they have a timer for vehicle repairs.  It should be up to the player whether they want to stand motionless while under attack to repair their vehicle.  I understand the intention but as implemented, it's a clunky system.  I say make vehicle repairs take 3 minutes and remove the in-combat restriction.
