whitelist

12 posts in this topic

I am running an exile server and i want to know if there is an easy way to whitelist . i see there is a file called whitelist text and in the battleye.cfg i see there is a hash sign before where it points to the whitelist text file . would i just assume you get rid of the hash sign to invoke the whitelist and simply add the whitelisted players UID or GUID into the whitelist text file , if so does it have quotes or anything , i want to whitelist because i seem to get a lot of kids coming on at weekends who dont want to read rules etc, thus whitelisting would give me more time to enjoy playing

You can use either BEC or InfiSTAR to whitelist players.

bbcdef0123456789abcdef0123456789 Guid of Nils Pils.
cbcdef0123456789abcdef0123456789 Friend of Nils Pilsdbcdef.

# Set the path to the file containing whitelisted guids.
#WhiteListFile = WhiteList.txt

Make sure you delete the # at the front of whitelistfile to enable it. And make sure WhiteList.txt is in your BEC directory.

I have never used it before, so I don't know if you do actually have to use the #whitelist on command to enable it. There is no mention of it in the documentation which is weird. Are you sure you are using the newest version of BEC? If you had to you could just run the whitelist on command like 30s after every restart as a job in your scheduler.xml like this:

Code:
<job id="0">
    <time>00:00:00</time>
    <day>1,2,3,4,5,6,7</day>
    <loop>1</loop>
    <cmd>C:\RESTART.bat</cmd>
    <cmdtype>1</cmdtype>
</job>
  <job id="1">
    <time>00:00:30</time>
    <day>1,2,3,4,5,6,7</day>
    <loop>1</loop>
    <cmd> #whiteliston</cmd>
    <cmdtype>0</cmdtype>
</job>

I think you might have the idea of 'whitelisting' confused...

Whitelist - allow place on server regardless of empty spots.

Blacklist - refuse place on server.

Actually, you've got it slightly wrong..

Whitelist = Approved players only.

Blacklist = Banned players.

Reserved Slots = Server access even when it appears full.

In this instance, the OP wants to employ a whitelist so as to only allow certain players on to the server. Using a blacklist would be horribly time consuming because you'd have to add each player to it as they join and you get their GUID, versus a whitelist which would kick anyone whose GUID is not on the whitelist.
