It would be cool if we could have the following options for radiation zones:

If a player is wearing a gasmask, they don't get that messed up visual effect.
Players still take damage with a gas mask on, but at much slower rates, and it depends on the uniform worn. For example, a gillie suit with a gas mask would afford 100% protection. A regular uniform with long sleeves and a gas mask would afford almost 100% protection, but due to the exposed hands/neck/back of head (and arms if short sleeve), they take some damage, very slowly. An array of uniforms would be broken down into classes that determine how much damage they protect from.

I like this idea, but I would have to say that the gillie suit should be lower on the protection, just because EVERYONE wears a gillie suit and it already benefits people drastically because it camouflages you head to toe, I think the highest radiation protection should be the orange Bambi suit you start with plus a gas mask, just because it protects you 100% but it makes you stick out like a soar thumb. Gotta have a little give and take, a radiation proof gillie suit is like having a fully auto Barrett .50 Cal with no recoil. But I do think that the radiation would be a great idea to have, maybe throw some missions in there where scientists are protecting high value loot and you have to go in and kill them and steal it. Good idea though!

Also, a ghillie wouldn't actually protect you that well - radioactive particles from the air would actually get trapped in all that foliage in the suit, thus irradiating the wearer even after leaving the contaminated area.

The idea about what would protect you isn't about who wears what. It's about what covers the most of your body. A gillie suit covers your whole body. The jump suit cover protect your head or your hands, plus on my server, you spawn with random clothes. There are no orange bambi suits.  Then again, that's why there would be a server admin configurable array so admins can adjust it to their own liking.

If they can make it to where you can configure your own set up for what clothing has what protection that would be nice, then like you said, the admin owner can then configure it how they feel necessary, I do understand what you are saying with the covered head to toe with the gillie suit but I still think that everyone already wears gillies too much. Even if your server spawns with different clothing, people still find and buy them. I'm just saying that nobody seems to like the Bambi overalls so this would make more people want to hold on to them, but the admin will be able to decide what clothing has what protection. To each their own =)

That's pretty cool. Not sure I'd use it for my server. I only have 1 radiation zone so adding another mod just so a handful of people can walk around in it doesn't seem worth it. Now, if those could be added to Exile....

Ya if they added that to exile that would be sweet! I would make it so there are a few radiation pockets and I would only have like 5-10 suits for the whole server. Gotta make stuff like that rare and worth fighting for!

What about the diver equipment? Possibly reskinned to yellow or something - but it's a whole protection and with the rebreather and the gasmask there is a technical realistic air protection.
The biohazard uniforms look a bit nasty for me and doesn't fit the modern exile way!?

You spawn in with an Orange prison suit.  Just as a ghilli suit is for a sniper... a Haz Mat suit is for a radiation zone.

People should be at a higher risk looting these area's so wearing a higher risk outfit should be used when trying to obtain the higher looted items. ( unsure what items these might be in a radiation zone ? )

My suggestion:

  • Oxygen tank ( worn in backpack slot ) has to be refilled at the boat / scuba trader like fuel at a gas station. This would decrease with time alot quicker than food / water currently does in-game.
  • Haz-Mat suit outfit slot
  • Gas mask head slot

The items in radiation zones will be in crates / boxes that you have to load into vehicles.  You cannot loot items off floor ( oxygen tank does not have storage )  This also limits the person/s looting the radiation zones to carry a limited amount of ammo for a primary weapon / secondary weapon.  Again adding the " risk " and " exile " factor even more so.
