How to disable base announcement message?

5 posts in this topic

I read an idea in one of these posts about disabling the message when a player enters someone's territory.  After thinking about it, I like that idea.  Why make it easier to find bases for those that want to raid?  I searched this forum and the Internet in general but didn't find a way to do that.  Does anyone know where that is called from?  Anyone disable that message?

Thanks

The file you are looking to edit to disable base announcements is  @Exile\addons\exile_client\code\ExileClient_util_world_getNearestLocationName.sqf

As it is in the client files (@Exile) you need to copy it to your mission pbo before you can edit it.

To do this first make a folder called overwrites and then copy the file into that folder. Now you need to call this new file in your config.cpp. Search for "CfgExileCustomCode" and inside the { }; brackets put this

ExileClient_util_world_getNearestLocationName	= "OverWrites\ExileClient_util_world_getNearestLocationName.sqf";

the CfgExileCustomCode block should now look like this

class CfgExileCustomCode
{
	/*
		You can overwrite every single file of our code without touching it.
		To do that, add the function name you want to overwrite plus the
		path to your custom file here. If you wonder how this works, have a
		look at our bootstrap/fn_preInit.sqf function.

		Simply add the following scheme here:

		<Function Name of Exile> = "<New File Name>";

		Example:

		ExileClient_util_fusRoDah = "myaddon\myfunction.sqf";
	*/
	ExileClient_util_world_getNearestLocationName	= "OverWrites\ExileClient_util_world_getNearestLocationName.sqf";
};

Save your config.cpp file and now edit the file in the overwrites folder.

If you want to remove all location announcements (Territory, City Names, Village Names etc) coment out the whole file (or delete everything in it)

If however you only want to remove the territory names from being announced, remove this from inside the _locationTypes array

"ExileTerritory",

It's no more support than many of the posts here... like how to disable the H key marker or how to fix the VON issue or how to alter stamina effects or how to get rid of the pink headlights on the UAZ.  As with those examples, I'm looking for something that isn't part of the standard admin-adjustable documented parameters.   Support is more like "I followed the installation instructions to the letter and it doesn't work".  Even then, it's often because they missed a step or mistyped something.
