Changing DB port 3306 for test server?

5 posts in this topic

Hi, I'm duplicating my main server to create a test server.  I copied the entire server file structure over.  I changed all path references, changed my startup port to 2312 (from 2302 so there are no conflicts), created a new exiletest database, and created new empty tables.

So I imagine I have to change the database port from 3306 to something else in extdb-conf.ini?   Or not?   I don't want it to conflict with my main game's database.  So before I fire the test server up, do I change it?  If so, wouldn't I have to go into mySQL and make a corresponding port change?  If so, where would I go to do that?

Thanks,

no need to make another sql server...

just make a new database on the same server with a new name... exile_test for example...

and change the name of the db in your extdb cfg to the new name...

thats all you need...

* database added? exile_2

* gave the user rights to access it or made another user who can only access exile_2?

* imported the exile.sql file into the database?

make sure you edit the lines

CREATE DATABASE IF NOT EXISTS `exile` /*!40100 DEFAULT CHARACTER SET utf8 */;
USE `exile`;

to the used database name

* used the same acc data in your extdb ini?

* what does the extdb log say?
