Windows vs Linux

4 posts in this topic

Hi all, i'm currently using Windows Server 2012 R2, i debating to change to Linux (Centos 7) to be exact, but wondering whats the pro's and con's of having Linux server for Arma 3, i have a dedicated server with SYS at the moment, only thing i can see thats advantage with Linux is the updates you dont have to reboot machine all the time, also Bec doesn;t work with Linux but theres tools out there for it for restart messages, and what about kicking/banning people can that done via rcon password with the max ping with a program on my pc> any info or help with this would be good.

I use windows server 2008 since 1 year for Arma 3

Last month i try on a debian 7 , perf was good at start ! 300 CPS amazing !

But with 10 player, 15 CPS and 20 FPS ... really low vs windows ...

I think arma was better with windows than linux :S

Well, first of all, CentOS 7 doesn´t have latest packages used by Arma 3 server - if you are familiar with RHEL family you might be more happy with Fedora. Here you have some benchmarks: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=linux-sep15-6way&num=1

We are actually runing Exile on CentOS 7 so I can provide some performance results later.
