[REQUEST] Pick up Intel Feature

7 posts in this topic

Hey guys,

I've asked on the discord but thought I'd post here too.

I'm looking to start adding lore to my server, and I'd like to make an action that would add a specific diary entry to the player's briefing tab on the map.

So say there's a corpse or specific item on the mission file, I want an scroll wheel action that would be "investigate" or something, then adds a diary entry to the player.

Any idea?

Exile Reborn has a similar system, you could start there.

I don't see where the feature is?

Hey Synyster, I know I didn't offer much lead into what you're looking for... I myself havent actually use that mod, but I have played on a server with it and I have also dug through the files a little bit looking for other stuff. It is in there.  The tricky part is that it is almost like a 'total conversion's mod whereas everything is pretty tangled up with each other, making it a little more time consuming to pick out what you want.

It's been awhile since I've looked, but you can start by looking at the player actions from the mission config.cpp, you'll find an override or an action along the lines of 'intel'

I'm not finding anything coming out to me when I'm looking through the code...

Have a look inside the folders "Client_scriptsANDFunctions\Functions" the file that may be of interest to you is "JohnO_fnc_updateAndAddQuests.sqf"
