[SOLVED] Make grass compulsory....

Question

Is there a way to prevent players from turning the object view distance low & removing grass?
I have a redux server & the grass is cool, just dont like hiding in it if players can see me.

cheers

depends on the server settings. Is it your server? for instance on my servers, I have the function turned off in exad view distance app and force the terrain settings using initplayerlocal

Thanks @BaroN for the quick response and helping us out. Your answer put me in the right direction.

We have now turned off the view distance app in EXAD and set the terrain grid value.

In init.sqf

setTerrainGrid 25;

//50 = no grass, great FPS & looks shit
//25 = medium grass
//12.5 = high grass levels
//6.25 is perfect but you might need a good server box with decent specs.

For those wanting to know you can also set the default terrain grid in infistar.

@John who ran some very cool servers suggests:

setTerrainGrid 6.25 with a view distance cap of 1500m is a great balance for performance and visual fidelity.

I run an Exile Reborn server which was all done by John and setTerrainGrid and setViewDistance isn't run from the init.sqf but from the top of the initPlayerLocal after "if (!hasInterface || isServer) exitWith {};" and at the bottom of initServer.sqf. Is it working correctly from the init.sqf ?

Hi @MetalHead

I got it working through Infistar & didnt try it through init.sqf. I just read on the bohemia website to do it in the init.sqf

@BaroN set in initplayerlocal.sqf so it should work fine. You can tell if it is working by the amount of grass that you can see.
