Removal of triggers from safezones - Question

So with 0.9.36 removing the triggers from safezones, I have a two part question.

1. How will the game "know" if a player enters a trader zone? Will they be hard coded areas or will they piggy back off the Trader location or?

2. Will it be possible to have non-safe trader areas, I for instance run a couple traders that are outside of the safe zone, I suspect ill still be able to do this right?

I've been wondering about this myself. I'm using a different map so I'm wondering what exactly I'm going to have to change.
