Debian 8 "Jessie" Installation

1 post in this topic

you might come in trouble to set up the database in for Exile in Debian Jessie. The reason is simple: only in mysql-server-5.6 is it possible to set a default value of type "CURRENT_TIMESTAMP" for a field of type "DATETIME". The problem is: there is no mysql-server-5.6 in Debian Jessie.

My decision was to migrate to MariaDB (a fork of mysql with high compability).  Next problem is the default value only exist in MariaDB 10.1 which also isn't in Debian Jessie. But, this helps:

MariaDB 10.1 Jessie Install Instructions

after this, you can easily setup the database for Exile.
