Custom Flags

Question

Ok I have tried and tried to get this to work properly.  I know there has to be something, small and stupid, I am missing.

config.cpp I added:

Spoiler

class CfgFlags
{
    class USA
    {
        name = "USA";
        texture = "\A3\Data_F\Flags\flag_us_co.paa";
        uids[] = {};
    };
    class MMRG
    {
        name = "MMRG";
        texture = "custom\flag\flag_mm_co.paa";
        uids[] = {};
    };
    class SFN
    {
        name = "SFN";
        texture = "custom\flag\flag_sfn_co.paa";
        uids[] = {};
    };
    class gattaca
    {
        name = "Gattaca";
        texture = "custom\flag\flag_white_dmg_co.paa";
        uids[] = {};
    };
};

The preview you can see the images: (as you start you flag construction) but once placed the pole is void of a flag.

Spoiler

preview.jpg

The "GATTACA" (flag) part was pulled (without modification) from A3/data_f/Flags/flag_white_dmg_co.paa

I wanted to see if my .PAA files were the hold up on why the flag wasn't populating on the flag pole.

Any ideas why? I tried all different sizes from 64 to 1024, 64x64 to 1024 to 512 on pixel sizes.  As the above preview shows even the .PAA that is in the data_f.pbo doesn't show a proper flag.

NOTE: I used: ImagetoPAA and TexView 2 (both) to produce "my custom PAA" files.

I am getting this: (when placing a custom flag)

 Exile_Construction_Flag_Preview: Flag - unknown animation source flag

I am having the same issue as you, but I get this error;  Cannot load texture mpmisions\exile.australia\flags\flag_tbs_co.paa.

Also have tried different sizes from 256x128, 512x256, 256x256, and 512x512.

It has been about 8 months since I have messed with exile. My flags worked back then. Then only this I see different is that you have to add _co to the end of the name.

Hope someone can help

@Gattaca Ok, this is what I did to get mine to work. Pack the mission folder into a PBO

I will try that.  I think I had it set as a PBO but I could have left it as just a folder but with Arma its a random crapshoot at times.  Cheers

I think you have to make:

1. png file (save as 512x256 px with a resolution of 72 dpi).

2. Open Texture Viewer in Arma3 Tools. http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=1563

3. Convert the file in Texture Viewer to RGBA in the dropdown, underneath that DXT1 in the dropdown. Second Dropdown should read "none".

4. Save the file adding .paa to the end of it name (can be called anything).
