So on my previous routers when I set my computer on a static ip it made the public ip static as well. However with my current modem it does not. If my modem is restarted it changes. I have entered the modem settings and attempted to change the modem itself to static but this did not work. Changing it to static only made my wifi stop working beacuse it couldn't reach the dns, or that's what it said at least. I tried using Google's dns (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4). I read that you have to purchase a static public ip from your ISP but I wanted to ask here and see of there are any other options or if im doing something wrong. Thanks
